Congratulations to Gerry Bowen - fifth-year seminarian at St. Mary's College Oscott - who yesterday, on the great Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, received candidacy from Bishop John Arnold of Salford.
Candidacy is an important step on his journey to priesthood. Please keep Gerry, the other seminarians who received candidacy yesterday and the whole community at St. Mary's College, Oscott in your prayers. Archbishop Bernard has asked all parishes to reflect on the Vision:
“Our Vision is to be a Catholic diocese which is faithful to the mission entrusted to us by Jesus Christ, full of missionary disciples who work together co-responsibly in vibrant communities of faith, joyful in their service of God and neighbour.” The Diocese have provided material for parishioners to discover more about how they can contribute to working towards this Vision. The Deanery Clergy have asked the Area Pastoral Council to deliver three sessions about this Vision. These Sessions will be at St Teresa’s, Trent Vale. The second session will be on Wednesday, 31st May, at 7.00pm. Because this date coincides with half term for schools, a number of people have said they cannot attend. We are therefore repeating this Session on Wednesday 14th June, at 7.00pm, at St Teresa’s. This second session is very important. You will be asked how you can be involved in Evangelisation, Formation, Liturgy and Worship, and Social Outreach, in your own parish, with particular attention to families and young people. The session will be accessible for everyone, even if you were unable to attend the first session, so please come along and bring a friend. 9/5/2023 0 Comments Vocations NewsThe Venerable English College and the Archdiocese Vocations Office has posted some news of Luke, who was at Holy Trinity for his seminary placement last summer:
"Many congratulations to Ludvig Hareide (Diocese of Oslo), Luke Theobald (Birmingham) and Stuart McGovern (Waterford and Lismore) who were instituted as Lectors a couple of weeks ago in the College church, seen here with Archbishop Paul Gallagher." Please continue to remember Luke and all our seminarians in your prayers. Missio is proud to be the Pope’s charity for world mission Missio ignites God’s love by helping local missionaries to work alongside global communities that are poor or in need, regardless of their background or belief. Sometimes this need might be very specific: a motorbike for a Priest to celebrate Mass in remote villages; a simple community hall so people can gather together; vaccinations to protect vulnerable children. Whatever our missionaries need to help them share the joy of the Gospel, Missio strives to provide it. You can support the work of Missio by having a Red Box for donations in your home. In England and Wales there are Red Boxes in over 200,000 homes and together we have collected millions of pounds for the missionary Church. The Red Box also helps us to remember to pray for all involved in the missions. Please ask one of the stewards at Mass if you would like a Red Box. |
